LandViewer integrates Satellogic high-frequency imaging
LandViewer continues to build out its multi-source ecosystem, most recently by adding very high-resolution satellite imagery from Satellogic. Users can now search through a rich archive of over 10 years or task a satellite for a fresh image. The main goal of this integration is to reduce the gap between an event happening on the ground and a decision-maker seeing it on their screen.
The Satellogic fleet consists of NewSat small satellites operating in Low Earth Orbit (LEO). Unlike traditional, bulky satellites, these compact units are launched frequently, allowing the constellation to grow and adopt the latest imaging technologies rapidly.
Each NewSat is equipped with a multispectral sensor. It captures data in four bands — Red, Green, Blue, and Near-Infrared (NIR). With a resolution of 0.7–0.8 m, NewSat high-resolution images provide the clarity needed to identify specific buildings or distinguish between different types of vegetation.
A standout feature of this integration is the high revisit frequency. The NewSat constellation allows for up to four revisits — passes over a target location to attempt an image capture — per day. The value of a four-times-daily revisit rate for the end user includes:
- Higher cloud-free probability. If a morning pass is obscured by clouds, the three subsequent passes on the same day provide more opportunities to obtain a clear image, saving time on critical projects.
- Monitoring dynamic changes. For time-sensitive industries like logistics, construction, or emergency response, seeing a site four times in 24 hours allows for tracking progress or damage as it evolves, rather than waiting days for the next update.
- Reduced lead times. Frequent passes mean that from the moment a user requests tasking for a new image, the wait time for the next available satellite window is significantly shortened.
- Operational consistency. With satellites passing over an area four times a day, LandViewer users get a steady stream of data for setting up automated change detection workflows.
Adding Satellogic data to LandViewer is a huge win for our users who can’t afford to wait days for a new image. With NewSat’s ability to revisit a site four times a day, we’re providing a much more dynamic view of the world, needed for them to stay ahead of the game.
Integrating Sattellogic high-frequency satellites into LandViewer ensures that time-sensitive projects are no longer delayed by old data. With four daily passes and a 10-year archive, they offer the historical context and the current visibility needed for any site. It makes the entire process of satellite monitoring more straightforward and less time-consuming for professionals worldwide.
About Satellogic
Satellogic is a vertically integrated Earth observation company that designs, manufactures, and operates its own constellation of high-resolution small satellites. The company focuses on providing frequent, affordable, and high-quality satellite imagery to help organizations manage assets and monitor global changes in near real-time. Its primary fleet, the NewSat constellation, delivers multispectral and hyperspectral data with sub-meter resolution and high revisit capabilities.
